Flash AS3 – Random Time Pause

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

When your looking to create a delay say on multiple movie clips so that the animations, play at different times, but you need to have a stop state here’s some code that will make it easier.

This allows you to setup a time delay before playing the next frames so you can have different start times.

stop();
var timer:Timer = new Timer(Math.random() * (10000 – 2000) + 1000, 1);
timer.start();
timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER_COMPLETE, hope);

function hope(event:TimerEvent):void{
play();
}

McLars This Gigantic Robot Kills – Album

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

Well from time to time you will see me write about a nerd core album I recently purchased.

Usually it’s a new song or album by Ytcracker who has been my favorite artist since my good Friend Josh sent me to a link and said check out this NES album back in 2005/06.  After listening to YTC for a bit I soon learned of Beefy and McLars and have been keeping up on their tracks as best I can, these are my favorite 3 in the genre.

I recently Purchased the album This Gigantic Robot Kills, by McLars. With rocking background beats and his combination of nerd and English literature combine makes this one of the tightest albums of any artist I’ve listened to in the last year (second only to the Digital Gangster LP – McLars and Ytcracker together is like milk and cookies you just don’t go wrong). Everyone I’ve sent the link to his video or let preview the album has had great things to say. I highly recommend checking out McLars myspace to get a preview, on both Itunes and Zune Market Place you can pick up this album for $10. Awesome buy and this new album will now be in my daily rotation while i’m working away each day.

Congrats to McLars and Ytcracker, keep producing these awesome songs as there is still some room left on my Ipod and Zune.
