Good Day fellow New Brunswicker’s, we’ve been hit by our first snow storm of the season and like every other year on my drive to work this morning I hear the news on the radio that 50 accidents of sorted varieties happened in the Saint John area.
People need to take their time and also take their vehicle out and get a feel for the snow. If you are an under confident driver or an over confident driver you are putting everyone else at risk. We should really know at this point that we need to have a healthy respect for the snow but not fear it if you’re afraid stay off the roads please.
Next you should take your car out in the snow head to an empty parking lot that hasn’t been plowed and get a feel for how your vehicle responds depending on what you do with throttle, break, turning etc. This is a safe way to get a feel for how to drive your car in the snow. The best and safest thing you can do for yourself and everyone else this winter (other than having the proper equipment, tires etc.) is being able to fully understand your car and control it.
To all the trucks that slid off the road yesterday and I saw 3 if you slow down to 30 instead of trying to do 50 it wouldn’t have happened, being in a truck doesn’t mean you don’t need to drive differently when the snowfalls.
Drive Safe, and lets make sure not only ourselves but the other drivers on the road make it to Christmas.
