Making Web Waves

January 3rd, 2009

Making Web Waves is my online philosophy of how to promote your website and to increase it’s chances of success.  I firmly believe the best promotion is by users promoting your website and recommending it to other people, and not by the largest advertising budget.

My Web Wave

By having multiple websites and presenting a variety of information, I continue to drive forward all of my different websites traffic.

By promoting my websites and content across different websites, I believe that I reach more people who then let other people know about me and my services and so on and so fourth driving traffic up and helping me to reach more people.

You don’t always need to have mulitple websites but you do need to promote your website in ways that will reach more prospective consumers. As simple as posting an ad for free on Craigslist or Kijiji you can reach more people easily and have them go to your quality website learning more about you/your business. In turn these same users will be the ones that will mention your website to someone who is in need of your products or services generating more real business for you.

Counting on users finding you on a search engine, or your website showing up first in google isn’t as realistic and will cost you more money and time then a more simplified targeted marketing system. You should optimize your websites basics for the search engine so that your website can be found and indexed properly but for specific keywords, remember you are competing against thousands of other companies with some of them spending thousands of dollars to optimize their website to specifically show up as number one on google.

Following the Making Web Waves philosophy, would be similar to advertising in coffee news opposed to the newspaper, a lot less competition but doesn’t get delivered to everyone’s house.
