Two Xboxes behind One Router and Works

D-Link Wireless N Router (DIR-615) (product link) After much hassle and bouncing around with Xbox Live, Rogers, and Different Router Companies we finally found a router that works. We have two Xboxes one that hooks up via wireless network adapter and one that is hard lined to the router.

We went through all of the port forwarding and dmz and everything they will run you through but the problem was the routers we were using. We picked this one up from Future Shop (help desk recommended it) took it home after trying two that were over $200 i thought no way this $70 one was going to work, i was wrong. It took about 10 min to setup, i didn’t have to do any dmz, no port forwarding or anything and now both xboxes  can play on live, halo 3, halo 3 odst, and nhl 10 without any problems or nat issues.

So if your having the same problem where one Xbox is losing it’s live connection give this router a try it worked great for us.

Gaming with No Controller

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

Well if you haven’t heard about it you should really check it out Project Natal from Microsoft. http://www.xbox.com/en-CA/live/projectnatal/

The next gen gaming without the need for a controller as you are the controller. Using the latest and greatest in technology. However I don’t think that this is such a great idea, I mean how much space do most people have in their living room. The Wii already required you to move your coffee table so that you could get the full range of motion, now your going to require a room dedicated with nothing in it for gaming.

Doing round houses and jumping around is that really what’s the best thing for gaming?
My biggest fear is that game developers will focus more on making this part work than keeping the quality of the games up.  I mean hardcore gamers will still use a controller to have control in GTA IV, opposed to trying to run on the spot to chase down a car when your on a time limit.

I think this is just the new fad and i hope it doesn’t take away from the quality of the games, i mean is NHL 10 going to be as cool when they have to spend an additional 6 months to make the character react to the user’s movement instead of a controller?? I guess only time will tell, I am very interested in this and will most likely be checking it out when it releases. I just hope i don’t have to build a new room on to my house in order to be able to use this system.

Xbox is Back

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Sorry for the lack of posting I am working on a few projects right now that have eating up my time which is always good.

I did get my Xbox back yesterday and everything is working great, and I was given a complimentary month of Xbox live and a Xbox universal remote. I also got my money back from bell for the receiver charge i have been paying so this is a good week.

I decided I’m going to start also posting some pictures, just so that there is some nice visual elements on my blog =).  If you like them great if not let me know and I’ll stop posting them, I just thought it would be something extra, as finding relevant information on my blog is pretty quick if your looking for specific topics.
