D-Link Wireless N Router (DIR-615) (product link) After much hassle and bouncing around with Xbox Live, Rogers, and Different Router Companies we finally found a router that works. We have two Xboxes one that hooks up via wireless network adapter and one that is hard lined to the router.

We went through all of the port forwarding and dmz and everything they will run you through but the problem was the routers we were using. We picked this one up from Future Shop (help desk recommended it) took it home after trying two that were over $200 i thought no way this $70 one was going to work, i was wrong. It took about 10 min to setup, i didn’t have to do any dmz, no port forwarding or anything and now both xboxes can play on live, halo 3, halo 3 odst, and nhl 10 without any problems or nat issues.

So if your having the same problem where one Xbox is losing it’s live connection give this router a try it worked great for us.

Well if you haven’t heard about it you should really check it out Project Natal from Microsoft. http://www.xbox.com/en-CA/live/projectnatal/

The next gen gaming without the need for a controller as you are the controller. Using the latest and greatest in technology. However I don’t think that this is such a great idea, I mean how much space do most people have in their living room. The Wii already required you to move your coffee table so that you could get the full range of motion, now your going to require a room dedicated with nothing in it for gaming.

Doing round houses and jumping around is that really what’s the best thing for gaming?
My biggest fear is that game developers will focus more on making this part work than keeping the quality of the games up. I mean hardcore gamers will still use a controller to have control in GTA IV, opposed to trying to run on the spot to chase down a car when your on a time limit.

I think this is just the new fad and i hope it doesn’t take away from the quality of the games, i mean is NHL 10 going to be as cool when they have to spend an additional 6 months to make the character react to the user’s movement instead of a controller?? I guess only time will tell, I am very interested in this and will most likely be checking it out when it releases. I just hope i don’t have to build a new room on to my house in order to be able to use this system.

I did get my Xbox back yesterday and everything is working great, and I was given a complimentary month of Xbox live and a Xbox universal remote. I also got my money back from bell for the receiver charge i have been paying so this is a good week.

I decided I’m going to start also posting some pictures, just so that there is some nice visual elements on my blog =). If you like them great if not let me know and I’ll stop posting them, I just thought it would be something extra, as finding relevant information on my blog is pretty quick if your looking for specific topics.

They have had my Xbox since i had the freezing and red lights issue for 17 business days, and they still have not fixed it or given me an update. The last email notification was on Jan 27th saying they received it and it will be 5 – 10 business days.

However I have my shipping tracking that says they received it on the 14th. I’ve grown very annoyed and I will be giving them a phone call tonight to get an update on my 360.

On the other hand my high speed internet with Rogers is rocking, and I’m not going to be even close to using up my download cap so no problems there at all.

Bell and Aliant decided Bell owes me my rental fees back and that it would apply a credit to my account, which I still haven’t recieved but maybe just maybe they will do what they said this time.

So the Second part of the story was getting the 360 into a box and heading over to the UPS Store to drop it off to ship out to Microsoft. My wife was kind enough to do this for me on Monday (Jan 12th) so that it would get shipped out immediately.

The staff there was super friendly and even a bit sympathetic and also told us we were number 400. My wife didn’t know what she was talking about and asked ” number 400 for what?”. It turns out that the UPS store is keeping track of the number of xbox’s being sent back and we were number 400 in the area.

There isn’t any prize for this but it makes me wonder if local stores last year were still selling first generation xbox’s that got pulled or if there is a problem with the second generation as well?

I will have to wait for a response from Microsoft directly to state what the problem was with my Xbox.

After just recently Defending XBox 360 and Saying the CBC shouldn’t be bringing up the Red Ring of Death right before Xmas when they have done so much to fix the problem, my Xbox 360 on Jan 11th stood still.

Just another day loading up a newly rented game, and all of a sudden i get a lound beep and it froze. I didn’t think anything was up so I reset it and nothing loaded, I looked down and the normally beautiful green glow was replaced with the Red stare of 3 rings.

So I grabbed my phone and called up microsoft support and they were great we ran through a few tests to see if we could get it up and running to no dice. So they gave me the option of getting the cardboard coffin, or an electronic slip. I took the slip so I could ship it back sooner as with the warranty Microsoft is taking care of all of the shipping.

Microsoft apologized multiple times and said for the hassle I would be getting a 3 month xbox live subscription wich is pretty cool since my 1 year is up in about 2 months, and then i’ll active the free 3 =).

I will be writing as I recieve updates on this story as this is much disputed experience when you search through what everyone has to say.

With both the Zune and the Ipod Nano you are not required to use itunes, or zune marketplace to get your songs, you just need to use the coordinating software to add your mp3’s onto your Zune or Ipod.

Now if you have an Xbox 360 and Windows operating system, I would recommend going with the Zune as it’s designed to integrate into both experiences and into your home network. It also has the great social sharing and Zune community features.

Hope you found this helpful.
